To the woman who just discovered her husband's addiction,

Please know that you are a beautiful daughter of God. He loves you. You did not do anything to deserve this. You never asked for your spouse to become an addict. Please know this is about him not you. You are wonderful.

As you begin your journey, you will find tears, but you will also discover an incredible amount of strength that you would not have found otherwise. You will learn so much about yourself, you will learn so much about The Gospel, you have the opportunity to build an absolutely unshakable testimony.

You will have the chance to literally feel your Heavenly Father wrap his arms around you. He will be so unbelievably close to you. You will not be left to fight this battle alone. You will constantly be surrounded by angels. Those angels may be a close friend, a group of amazing women on the internet, or just passing a smiling person on a hard day. You will be lifted in so many incredible ways and your prayers will be answered in ways you never expected.

You will learn to appreciate the simple things in life because of this. You will learn to treasure those moments when you are given a glimpse of the man you married. You will treasure the rare moments of affection from him. You will become an amazing person. You will change for the better.

You can get through this! I believe in you! Keep the faith and stay strong.

  1. This was a great post! So true. I have learned and grown so much along the way. My relationship with God has changed. It is a horrible, terrible thing to go through, but the journey is so valuable.
