How does it feel to be the wife of an addict?

I have been thinking about this for a few days. How do I describe how I feel on a daily basis to someone who has absolutely no idea how I feel. So after many sleepless nights of pondering this, here goes nothing!

Imagine that you are driving down a country road. It is winter time and quite cold, you are miles from civilization. Suddenly, your gas light comes on. You've been enjoying the beautiful scenery so much that you haven't even bothered to pay attention to your gas gauge. You turn around and pray that you will make it to a gas station or to civilization. No such luck, your car comes to a stop.
You feel it getting colder and colder. You check your phone, no service. You have to make a decision. You can stay here and hope that someone comes down this empty road to no where or you can start walking. You decide to start walking.
You walk and walk and walk. You pray that you will run into to someone who will help you. All the while the bitter cold wind is eating at your skin. You find yourself hungry, cold, and exhausted. You don't know if you can keep walking any farther. Somewhere along the way you fall to your knees and beg your Heavenly Father for mercy. Then, you get up and walk a little farther.
As you walk you feel the darkness of the night setting in. You are terrified, cold, hungry, and alone in the middle of no where. You find yourself praying with every step you take. What are you going to do? Will Heavenly Father show you mercy? Will you survive the bitter cold darkness?
